Rollerblading in Mallorca: on routes and routines

In-line skating, roller skating as part of outside to do's is obviously less popular than biking in Mallorca. However, there are still fascinating routes and locations for the lovers of this type of sports. Like me :)

First of all let's decide who are you - roller skater i.e. taking on every uneven surface to try your balance or in-line skater whose aim is to enjoy the ride from point A to point B. I am the second type, but I will still provide some recommendations for the fans of half-pipes.

Roller skaters spots

The most famous is of course Son Moix Skatepark. If you google it, not only you will find its location but also the website. Built with many interesting obstacles, this skate park boasts the quality of all the surfaces. Moreover, it is quite newly built. Just behind the football stadium, you will easily find it.

Another interesting location for skating with obstacles is Skate Park Wifi that is located near the park in Soledad Sud. This spot is popular with latinos and other nationalities as Soledad is mostly occupied by various immigrants. You can get some good comany there and even advice on some tricks.

Skate park Son Ferriol is the final spot I would advise for roller skating in Palma and it certainly has this industrial flair as it is located in industrial region Son Ferriol. It is older than the other two but has been very nicely built and is usually less crowded. So if you want to train some tricks and not be seen by the audience, this is a good place to go.

All around Mallorca I would advise going to other places like Puigpunient, Son Servera and Felanitx. They are quite intimate, however rather new and you can definitely practice some great routines there. But if you are a pro and would like to get the crowd see you and take pictures of you, try these two locations: Galatzó and Son Caliu in Calvia.

In-line skaters routes

My absolutely number one route is the Palma coastline from the port in front of Cathedral to the El Molinar smaller port. The route is just the first line of the sea, not too inclines, separated from the pedestrians which allows having more privacy and speeding up. No more than 15 minutes one way, stopping in El Molinar to spot the boats... And the views are absolutely spectacular!

My second recommendation is Port Pollenca. You can meet some pedestrians and bicycles there, but all over the views are great too, the route which is following the whole coastline of the town until pedestrian zone has some great views of the beach. You can stop alongside, take a swim and continue. And just like in Palma it will take you about 15-20 minutes one way.

Finally, the hidden gem is the route from Can Picafort to Alcudia which stretches along the road. Not a very good point as there are cars, but the pine trees and the beautiful landscape around will make you happy. A bit challenging with some crossings of the road but still manageable. Good road cover which is very important to have a relaxed ride.

All in all, these are some basic places. If you happen to find a better place, please comment on the post or message us! We are always happy to learn about new routes and routines for the pleasure of the wheels! :O)
